Kim La Tang passed away in her sleep at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale, Mass. on January 7, 2022. She was 77. Born Muoi La on April 18, 1944 in Can Tho, Vietnam, she married Sang Tang in 1972. Following the end of the Vietnam War, the couple fled the country seeking safer resettlement opportunities. Through an amazing volunteer network in the United States, they were resettled with a compassionate and generous sponsor family in Sharon. There they adapted to a new culture, learned a new language, and raised a son, Mark. Kim worked tirelessly to improve her English and build a successful small business. She enjoyed tending the home garden and gifting her family with home-cooked Vietnamese meals. She is missed most for her selflessness and infectious smile and laughter. Kim is survived by Sang; Mark and daughter-in-law Alice; grandchildren Addison, Pierson, and Jackson; and the many friends and community members who have been touched by her legacy of generosity and resilience. A private service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, a gofundme has been created to support Sang: gofundme.com/f/kimtangmemorial. Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St., Canton is assisting the family.
